Inspiration
When Christina was recovering from breast cancer treatments in the San Francisco Bay Area, in 2016, participating in peer support groups and a cancer survivor empowerment workshop to reassess her own life goals, one of the therapist facilitators noticed Christina thoughtfully empathizing and encouraging her peers. The facilitator suggested Christina “get credentials” to help people . . . so she did!
Purpose
Upon moving to Brevard County in 2018 and pursuing a Masters of Social Work, Christina continued her mission of helping people as a case manager for veterans of a transitional housing facility and developed an enrichment program there to teach life skills in peer support groups. She also drew on her experiences, skills, and community connections to initiate cancer support programs, including social support activities, facilitating support groups and providing individual supportive counseling to cancer survivor and caregiver clients.
She earned her MSW from Saint Leo University in 2020 and quickly worked toward clinical licensure as a social worker to practice mental health counseling, including therapy to children and families at two counseling agencies, while continuing to help develop a local cancer support nonprofit.
Now, Christina is fulfilling her passion for helping others under Live Inspired Counseling & Support LLC and 501c3 nonprofit Live Inspired Brevard Inc, both established in January 2024. In addition to treating clients privately through Live Inspired Counseling & Support, she facilitates support groups and develops a variety of social support, education, and creative expression programs for individuals affected by chronic health conditions for the Live Inspired Brevard support and wellness community.
Christina was selected as a “Hero of Hope” motivational speaker for American Cancer Society and an advocate for Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s national advocacy program for women diagnosed with breast cancer before age 45. Her career prior to social work encompassed 20 years in marketing and public relations, including several years working in the nonprofit sector. She has a Bachelors in Communications from Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana. When she is not practicing social work Christina enjoys watching Notre Dame football, writing, scenic walks, bonding with her dog Lucky, caring for her elderly mother, and spending time with her nephews and niece.
